“Material Wonderland is the first solo NFT exhibition of work by internationally acclaimed Chinese multimedia artist Lu Yang. The exhibition includes eight new NFT-backed works taken from “The Great Adventure of Material World,” Lu Yang’s second piece from the “Material World“ series created in 2019, arguably known to be his most ambitious game work thus far. “The Great Adventure of Material World” consists of six levels structured in direct reference to the six reincarnations in Buddhism. Through gameplay as “The Knight,” viewers are invited to explore multiple identity transformations, moving beyond tropes of popular manga culture while growing in power and abilities. Through this journey of observation within the universe in which the Knight goes through internal struggles amongst other emotions and desires, viewers are challenged to reflect on their conventional views of contemporary society, and invited to explore alternate paths of being.” — Alice Scope and Barry Threw
