About

Feral File is an online cultural institution for software art.

We collaborate with artists, curators, and institutions to produce genre-defining exhibitions. We build tools that help people live with and appreciate contemporary, file-based artworks.

Our exhibitions and permanent collection are always open to the public, and can be experienced in-browser or through the Feral File app.

Founded in 2020 as a collaboration between artist Casey Reas and the software company Bitmark, Feral File was the first platform to support code-based artwork. Since our launch, we’ve diligently iterated on the ways that art using software as material or medium can be exhibited and collected. We’re proud to champion the artists and artwork of our time — while building new collecting models that enable our global community to thrive.
