Bloom
Bloom is an innovative fusion of technology and traditional artistry, showcasing vibrant, blooming flowers amongst abstract, contrasting colors – employing code-based systems that bridge between the organic and the digital.
In "Bloom," generative algorithms produce compositions that echo the intricate patterns and textures of Impressionist brushstrokes, culminating in a style that is both natural and systematically precise.
Haber has transformed three of these digital compositions into physical paintings on canvas. Utilizing a custom-built plotter capable of handling oil pastels, he achieves a unique translation of algorithmic works into physical materials. This process meticulously replicates each stroke from the digital artwork onto the canvas, while allowing the texture, idiosyncrasies, and vibrancy of the painted media to shine.
These oil pastel paintings are characterized by expressive, fauvist, and pop-inspired color combinations. They also challenge traditional notions of the artist’s role in painterly works born from digital processes. The artist's hand is present not just in the creation of the algorithm but in the essence of every stroke laid down by the plotter.
