Higher-resolution versions are available upon request. 3 unique 60s looping moving image works. The three unique works for Dimensionality represent a new view on how the shape of light can be displayed on a 2-dimensional screen, emitting imagery with nothing but light itself. These looping works, described by the artist as "moving paintings," provide an energetic yet meditative experience. They are made with c++ & ❤️

SOLOS
Commisioned by Verse for the Cone Gradient Study: Mint Pass holders. Point Gradient Study is a variation on Cone Gradient Studies, a series of computational artworks that explore the intersection of graphical form, gradients, color and light simulation. "The work is built with a simple premise – what if the color of every pixel is derived from a small number of points which have a hue, an intensity and a direction. Given a simple equation, the color of a given pixel can be determined. You can think of these cones like light sources, and the equation is not dissimilar to how you might explore the mixing of different light sources. Starting with that simple approach, I did my normal thing of turning the volume knob up to 11, and tried to see how I could break this system in different ways, in order to explore the different feelings, moods and expressions that emerge. I gravitate to work which feels illuminated, where light is a central component, and with this study I found light everywhere I looked. The system starts as a simple mathematical function (these are essentially photographs of math), but I like to iterate and iterate to find natural, emergent properties and moments that surprise." - Zach Lieberman

SOLOS
Color Blinds Study is a series of moving pieces, exploring the sensation of light moving through a striped material. A collection of 25 unique 1/1 videos. "As a child, I loved the patterns you would see through venetian blinds, and this project is based loosely on that sense of wonder – how materials can abstract and transform light. The work explores color, light, sunsets, gradients and graphical forms. With these moving works, I’m particularly interested in transformation and memory, how simple elements change and new combinations emerge based on what you’ve just seen, and the kind of electrical, kinetic energy that can come from change." - Zach Lieberman

"This summer I’ve been exploring an approach to simulating light that feels very much like neon. I’ve simulated light and glow in many ways, but this for me is an exciting and different way to do it. Whenever I discover a new technique, it makes simple things feel completely new again. For this series, I decided to focus on grids and look at how color, light, and grid can commingle in interesting ways." - Zach Lieberman
