"Even when I want to." is an abstract generative watercolor painting. It is an output of a generative algorithm titled "Curve Waves." The Python-based algorithm was created in 2022 and generated instructions for robots. Pen plotters (Axidraw A3/V3) then physically rendered the outputs with various watermedia. The algorithm inspired the creation of another long-form generative algorithm called "Drifting Dreams," which was released in early 2023.

"Even when I want to." is a 35.6 x 25.4 cm (14 x 10 inch) painting on 300 gsm watercolor paper. The paper size is 40.6 x 30.5 cm (16 x 12 inches). It was painted in 2022 with a customized extra-fine brush, using assorted ink, watercolor, and liquid pigments.
