《BUGCAT Codex》
The BUGCAT Codex is a manuscript for preserving the smart contract artwork BUGCAT.
BUGCAT is a code poem that embodies the historical vulnerabilities that shook Ethereum as “cats.” Reentrancy attacks, predictability, integer overflows, unprotected initialization, misspelled constructors—each is a trace of a moment when programmers’ intentions were surpassed, and the world was shaken. BUGCAT presents these not merely as technical failures, but as poetry born when language itself exceeds its own limits.
The Codex preserves the source code of BUGCAT using the same medium, Solidity. Each Codex references the actual bytecode of a BUGCAT, binding it as a single artwork. The owner’s actions remain inscribed on the chain as state, and the very act of reading becomes part of the record.
When minted, one of the five BUGCATs is selected. Through the smart contract, the owner can toggle between Light/Dark themes and Source Code/Bytecode views. Collecting all five BUGCATs reveals a special piece of ASCII art—both a sign of agreement to preserve this digital work for the long term, and a token of gratitude.
