Masters keep secrets. Their techniques and their desires.
Girl before a Mirror is an oil on canvas painting by Pablo Picasso in 1932. The painting is a portrait of Picasso's mistress and muse, Marie-Thérèse Walter, who is depicted standing in front of a mirror looking at her reflection.
Their first meeting occurred outside Galeries Lafayette in Paris, when Walter was aged 17 and Picasso was 45. He introduced himself by saying, "You have an interesting face, I would like to do a portrait of you. I am Picasso". He initially kept their relationship a secret.
