Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi, better known as Botticelli, was a Florentine painter who is considered a key figure of the Italian Renaissance.

Botticelli's "Primavera" is a masterpiece that is believed to have been commissioned for the marriage of Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de' Medici, a cousin of the powerful Lorenzo the Magnificent, and is an allegorical depiction of spring and the blossoming of love and beauty.
