Temporale are Tapestries of Time. A digital-analog video-photo series by artist Sarah Zucker / @thesarahshow.
Each Temporale is a fixed vantage point from which to see the fourth dimension. When you view a Temporale, you are witnessing Time’s flow interwoven with itself and captured in a still image.
These works begin as videos of luminous fabrics and materials rotating through space.
The seed videos are then subjected to a series of time displacements in an analog video ecosystem and then digitally slit-scanned, registering myriad timelines of the same moving object into a single still image.
The aim of this work is to evoke the non-linear experience of Time when moving between the physical and virtual worlds of the early 21st century.
Due to their fluid nature, Temporale may be displayed vertically, horizontally or cropped at the viewer’s preference – each viewpoint allows for new facets to emerge.
