The fluidity of manual technique within the camera has brought me to a new understanding of light and the time that passes through it. As cameras continue to simplify and automate, adopting an AI-controlled visual language & codes; I have found my power through the intentional use of controls within the lens. Using a digital large format camera, the images are lit by the waves of phosphorus, neon, and the light-emitting diodes (LED) found in contemporary public advertisements. The resulting photographs create a textural mapping of wave emissions through fluid control of the camera. The location of capture reveals itself in pieces; landmarks, lighting, advertising signage, and hints of human aspects. Details bring recognition of elements within Time Square and Broadway, my main playgrounds for this project. Studying Howard Edgerton & Laslo Moholy-Nagy, I found a like-minded curiosity within the interaction between time and light. These are my transmissions of light. 6000x4000
