Time is a commodity in New York City, so people move with speed and intention. There is no greater example of this than Grand Central Terminal during rush hour. The Main Concourse is filled with thousands of people moving swiftly through the great hall as they make their way to their final destinations. This image is a 2 minute exposure of the concourse during the morning rush hour. The nature of long exposure photography, is that only stationary objects remain, while anything that is in constant movement is erased ny the exposure time. You can imagine my surprise when I came across this file with only one person remaining still for the entire 2 minutes, giving the illusion of one solitary person in an extremely crowded room.
