A Parting Gift

It is no coincidence we find peace and contentment through the beauty of the natural world. There is a deep-seated desire, almost an expectation, to be out in nature that is programmed into the DNA of us all; remnants from our ancestral lifestyle. As a species, we’ve spent more time living amongst nature as opposed to the modern world, where nature strives to live amongst us. It can, however, be difficult finding the time to disconnect from the chaos of our every day. One of the biggest drivers behind my artwork is in sharing these exceptionally rare and beautiful moments observable in the natural world. Sometimes however, Mother Nature really makes you prove your patience before delivering an experience like this. For nearly seven days leading up to this sunrise, I hadn’t seen much of any sunlight due to the rainy weather common in Iceland. The first time exploring this area earlier that week, the mountain (Kirkjufell) was lost behind a wall of thick fog. It wasn't until the final twelve hours of my stay that the weather cleared. This final sunrise was truly a parting gift from Iceland itself, and will now forever live on the blockchain for all to enjoy.
