Growing up, green power boxes were always the hangout spot for the neighborhood kids. We’d sit on them, jump off of them, and get in trouble for being around them all the time. They were a staple of the backdrop of my childhood. My older siblings introduced me to these boxes and I often wonder who introduced them. I imagine it was some of our older cousins or some of their friends.
The green power boxes themselves weren’t particularly special, but what they represented was. Community, comfort, and bonding. I wanted this piece to convey those qualities.
