Projection in the Peruvian desert. After a few days of scouting, I found a hidden patch of sand dunes between mountains, 2 hours North of Lima. After a few hours hiking across the dunes, I used a small laser to make anamorphic projections of coherent light on the sand.
While confronting plain geometric shapes with the curvy dunes of sand grains that formed Millions of years ago, 4 lines of laser light form a tall rectangle across the landscape, a portal to futuristic imaginaries, echoing Kubrick's classic 2001 scene.
