Comments: Once we touched down in the lone star state I gave my buddy Jimmy a call. I had shot his wedding earlier in the year with his wife Dawn in San Francisco with their family. It was a beautiful union in Golden Gate park at the botanical garden. I was blessed to be asked by him to be their fine art photographer to make shots for the wedding. I normally don't do weddings but this was a special day for a special friend. And I am glad he trusted me with my film cameras to do what I do and have fun making art. He also had a real wedding photographer there so that took the pressure off a bit to make sure I did not mess up the kiss shot or their "I do's." He was thrilled to see us in his town as we were passing through, as I was thrilled to see them. He was smiling grin to grin when we rolled up and said that his wife, dawn, was pregnant and they were going to have a baby! I gave Jimmy a big hug and said he was going to be a great dad. We sat down in his back yard to reminisce on his wedding four months earlier and now they are having a baby! He was really ready to start his family and I was so happy for them. He rolled up a tobacco leaf with marijuana and we started smoking a blunt together. I thought to myself, wow I have not done this since high school, but we are celebrating this mans family, so, fuck it why not! All of us were giggling and chirping aside Dawn's sunflower garden. She gave us a tour of her backyard farm. and then I saw the light on her belly and asked Jimmy to go on over and kiss her and the baby for the super 8 portrait. It was truly a beautiful moment, somewhat an extension of the energy of our wedding shoot we had done, now turned into a baby shower! It's funny how life just works like that. This is what this project is all about. These moments, that become memories, that is made through my art. I remember we went inside afterward and got right to business..... I tried to work out a deal to make a trade for his invader piece, but the wifey was not down with it. I am grateful that art brought us together and through that we were able to make more meaningful art together, and for a day I was part of the family. He really made me felt like I belonged. Thank you Jimmy. For all your support and brotherhood and may this moment last a lifetime for you and your beloved family.
