Comments: John G has been my friend since art school at SVA, more than a decade. We used to skate Chelsea piers together in between classes. He was a professional! Gone on long roadtrips across the country, lived in new cities on the other side of the coasts from which we came. Helped me let go of dealing...Shared a bond in healing... He met with us early in the morning to go on a hike at Red Rocks. I wanted to honor his legacy as a skateboarder on Go Skate Day! Which is June 21st every year. We were preparing for a psychedelic weekend at the convention center for MAPS conference. Starting in nature allowed us to restore and reset our energy for an interesting "trip" to say the least. We found our way to the concert area of the park where all the legendary bands and singers perform their hits. The camera started rolling and John started lunging up the stairs with big strides. He is a master of balance and control over his body. You need to be if you plan to be a pro skateboarder; Quick reflexes and agility. It felt good to see my friend having fun again. He came back down and we walked barefoot through the park to ground some more before heading to the conference. We warmed up with a rap battle on the drive back into town, something we would do on our long road trips to express ourselves and have a good time. Life is full of friendship and having fun in it... Remember to "Be Here Now" for that is where the love goes.
