Comments: When Ethan and I left the Hanuman temple we were told that there was a Led Zeppelin concert happening in town. As we walked into the square we saw a line of people on the sidewalk for a few blocks waiting to enter the outdoor venue. We were going with the flow... We asked the staff if there were tickets to my favorite band from growing up. It was completely sold out. We disappointingly brushed it off and went to have a dinner at a hipster bistro nearby. We sat inside. Ate vegan burgers and drank ginger kombucha. I went to the bathroom and noticed there was a backyard alley that connects to different shops and behind the concert venue. We walked outside after paying the bill. There was a sign that said, "Gallery Show." I went inside to check it out . It was an art exhibition of the local indigenous children and elders. From paintings to pottery. There we met the chief, Tarynce & later on in the night his wife, Lorna. I bought some of the art and his mothers ceramics. It turned out all of the art in the space was made by his children. We spent hours into the night smoking blunts and eating pizza with Tarynce. The music grew louder. An Encore! We were nearly backstage and could hear the concert. We were perfectly where we needed to be... The concert ended and the crowd left. Tarynce noticed that the band was leaving in their tour bus and they would have to pass us by in the only exit. His children had painted a very creative "Welcome" sign and blocked the road. The bands tour manager pleaded to let them through and Tarynce wanted to gift them a book. They accepted and then were allowed through. Their infamous song Ramble On was playing, and it perfectly complimented the wackiness of what was happening during the roadblock. Tarynce, Ethan, and I couldn't believe what just happened and we laughed like coyotes late into the night. We met him in the afternoon at his home on the Pueblo. It was a holiday; We made his family portrait on Father's Day! Tarynce had Nine children with Lorna. They have been together since middle school. It was such serendipitous timing that we celebrated this loving holiday for the project with a father and his many kids. A family portrait. A gift to remember. A beautiful new friendship and honor the ancestors of his tribe.
