Comments: We spent the day visiting the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Hanuman Temple in Taos. I was not familiar with Hanuman, as I am a follower of Ganesha. I learned more about this heart opening monkey hero that can move mountains. I saw the light and understanding through Ethan and his compassion towards his guru. I was taught about Neem Karoli; to surrender to new ideas and ancient deities that are here to support us. That it is okay to believe in many paths of spiritual resonance. It actually connects us more as we can relate to one another. The marble temple was recently built in honor of his legacy. There were many Indian families and we made new friends chanting the Hanuman chalisa with respect to their lord. As we sat and recited the words to the song, there we met Zander who was an expert at playing the harmonium. Zander was traveling across country to pray and perform. Before lunch and a handful of chai, I had asked if we could record them playing in front of the bronze Hanuman in the garden. The wind started blowing frantically as we started shooting. Ethan told me that Neem Karoli Baba mission was to help enlighten and feed people. This temple will feed anyone who shows up. It was a beautiful idea that we embraced on to the rest of our journey around the world. Whenever we saw someone in need of food, we fed them, just as the temple fed us as travelers... That is how we can pay it forward on a karmic path. To do more good in the world. We met an elder in the original temple. The bedroom with his original bed. It was humbling in relation to the majesty of the new temple. We can feel his spirit. The woman sitting in the room with us become our friend. Told us stories and life lessons, some that made us tear up. It was is if Neem Karoli Baba showed up and was speaking through her. She winked at us and we knew... His spirit was with us now.
