Comments: We arrived back in Los Angeles to start the 50 state road trip! It took us a few days to rent a car for 3 months and gather all the supplies: Taking the film to be developed, re-stocking more super-8 and polaroid film, find a change of clothes, organizing the tea we had collected with the new set, and checked out what was piling up in the storage from the last 5 years. I rented a place for a few days in Topanga. The nature there is a sweet retreat in this cement and motor city. It was where I first lived when I moved to California in 2019. It was a sacred haven; more like heaven. We were a 10 minute drive down to surf at the local Topanga Beach. This was where I spent the entire pandemic practicing and riding the waves. Letting go my love for skateboarding down staircases and ledges, and falling in love with riding on the water catching waves with the dolphins. Nicole met us at the apartment to have some tea we brought back from Asia. She brought over my cat Sandy. She was watching over him while I was traveling the past 2 months since the project started. She loved Sandy and was family to her. We had decided since he was getting old and I would take him on the 50 state road trip with us for a final Hoorah! Nicole and I went on a long walk into Topanga state park as the house was a few minutes away from a back entrance to some trails. She brought her Bichon, Yogi, aka Yo-yo! He was a rescue during the pandemic. We talked and walked the dog in the park where we found a wild lavender flower blooming. I recorded Nicole as she and Yogi approached me, smelled the flowers, and opened her third eye towards the skies.
