Comments: Ethan and I walked through a park in the morning and found a group of bird watchers taking photographs. I had my camera too so we went to see what they were looking at. There was a big yellow and black bird and her baby feeding in the nook of a tree. The 9 photographs huddled around their elder, who was the only person sitting down. They all showed us their cameras and their images. The man who was the park OG showed us his new bird calendar. Everyone let out an "ooh and aah." Blown away by his pristine photographs from this park over the years and the birds whom inhabit. Then we learned how to bird watch by watching this team of hobbyists. I lost track of time listening to the singing chirps and the vibrant colors flapping through the green. We left to meet with our friends Kevin and his girlfriend Jannie at the Wisteria tea house. They wanted to help us on the art project and suggested we meet with their friends Henry & Naomi. Kevin said that they are a wonderful couple; Henry was from Taiwan and Naomi was from China. We drank more tea and an hour later Henry answered, Yes! We walked to meet the duo at their favorite beef noodle place in town for lunch. As we were walking there I bought Sunflowers off the street to gift to the couple. We arrived at the location and ordered the classic beef noodle soup. Everyone went upstairs to wait for Henry and Naomi. They were running late and the noodle place was closing soon. Once we had finished our bowls of beef and brothy tendons they arrived five minutes before the staff stopped taking orders. They greeted us upstairs. I had set up the shot and tables to make it easy since it was busy and closing soon. I laid the flowers on their table. The couple sat to start eating and I started recording. They were sharing a couple bowls of Beef Noodle soup and eating each others plate. What brings people together? Food. What is culture made of? The food we eat represents the country we are in. It may be a simple soup, but it represents respect. It represents unity. Who is our family and friends? The people we feel comfortable to eat with. This couple symbolizes the bridge between peoples, between conflicting regions. Sharing a bowl of soup can be one step forward And, it was delicious path to peace!
