Comments: Ethan and I rented two small electric bikes from Mitsuru & Megumi, the owners of our favorite cafe in Ishigaki. The batteries were half fun and we estimated how far we can go. We rode for 30 minutes north up the coast to the lake, locked up the bikes, and went into the lake for a while. There were tiny crabs pinching our feet so we stepped out of the water. We hopped back on our bikes and decided to head back home. We saw a coloful sign and stopped at a passion fruit farm to pick up some fruits, and we left with passion juice. Ethan's bike was running out of juice. Thankfully, it was all down hill from the farm and we rode it all the way home in neutral. Mitsuru & Megumi greeted us when we returned the bike as the sun was setting. I had my cameras with us and asked the owners if they would like to be in the art project. Megumi sat on the swing and Mitsuru stood by her side. They looked at each other deeply and in love. The perfect match. We finished making their portraits. I gifted them a polaroid as a gift for their kindness and hospitality. We sat for a small dinner and was fed what felt like a 12 course meal of small dishes, their specialty! We were joined by a Japanese woman who was visiting the island from Tokyo. She sat with us to eat; we talked about her work and our adventures. The next morning we met her again to go snorkeling in the ocean to swim with sea turtles. It was low tide and we were swimming tightly between the coral. We swam with seaweed, starfish, and schools of small fish in the clear blue water. We got out of the water and walked home. Then, we departed to Osaka for our last day in Japan.
