Comments: We packed our bags and left on the first ferry out of Naoshima, there was no one else on the boat other than the sailors driving it. The sky started pouring rain. Ryuichi & Yumi met us at the ferry landing to make their portrait. Ryuichi offered to drive us closer to the airport before our next train to fly out to Okinawa. He ended up driving us all the way to the airport because Yumi wanted to show us a secret at the airport. There was a hidden hot udon fountain to taste their iconic broth, it was delicious! And yes, we had a few re-fills before we boarded the plane to the smaller island. I have never seen anything like that other than in movies, like a Hawaiian punch water fountain in an old comedy flick. We flew out to Okinawa, then to a smaller island called, Ishigaki. We rode a bus to the car rental lot. I thought I was going to be able to rent a car, and was surprised that we did not have the international papers to allow us to drive in Japan. There were no taxi's so we walked back a few miles to the terminal. Hitched a ride in a cab and did not have the correct address or cell service. when we jumped out of the car After asking 4 different strangers for directions we were guided home by the locals. Later that night, we walked an hour to dinner at the only restaurant for 5 miles. We were the only customers there. The owners are the sweetest couple on the island. Listening to raggae roots music. The owner who is also the chef made us a taste of the local island fish special and special fruit drink. We came here every night we stayed on the island. It was pitch black dark out now. Ethan and I walked barefoot in the middle of the road into the darkness with foolish courage. The forest began glowing white like super novas softly expanding and sparkling like a trace of a nebula. It became a cosmic field of vision. We began to see bright yellow beams in the distance headed our way. A small blue car passes by, then the same car 15 minutes later returns toward us, slowing down in the same direction. The driver stopped and the passenger asked if we would like a ride home. We said no thank you, then she screamed to watch out for the habu... the snakes. Our eyes glowed and then we knew. So, we accepted the ride home. She drove us home and then parked her car in the driveway next door. She was our neighbor!
