Comments: It was around sunrise at Nagarkot geodetic survey tower we drank some street chai and had some breakfast with the locals before hiking to the top when the sun shined over the Himalayas behind us. Overlooking the rice fields and Kathmandu in the distance. Ice on the snowy caps of the legendary mountains in all of its peaceful and subtle glory. There was a rickety old metal tower that people were climbing. My friend John climbed up first and waved us up. I followed him and it was a tight squeeze as people were eager to see higher into the distance from this birds eye view of this rusty mechanical structure. A man in a cowboy hat came up to me and we started talking. He called himself the Sheriff. He asked me to take a picture of him and his new friend from Chicago. I thought they were a couple and complimented them being cute together and she laughed and said her boyfriend was under us watching the sunrise. We all laughed and she got close and made a photo with the sheriff. I asked the Sheriff if he would like to be in my art project. He nodded and did not say a word as I made his portrait as the golden dawn sunlight landed on his face. We climbed down and he followed us for some more chai. We treated him to a cup of course. Then he got into this long monologue of being a warrior of some sort. A karate master. I think he was trying to intimidate me but I was looking him in the eye just listening to what he said, then went into another tangent about the movie he was starring in and directing. He was happy we made photos of him on his camera. I'll never forget meeting the sheriff at the top of the mountain, but there was no deputy. They guys and I chugged along a 10 mile hike around the rice fields and were chased down by children asking us for money, i'm not sure what they would do with it but they saw us as piggy banks. We smelled some side of the road hemp growing and our noses perked up. Ethan busted out the golden hash ball that Vansh gave us the day before and enjoyed some of the best hashish in the world. It is so good that you can roll a joint with it without any flower. Thankfully the sheriff was not on our tail anymore and we gleefully walked around until we made it back to the town. I remember losing a lapis lazuli ring I picked up a few days prior on this journey, but thankfully we did not lose our heads! When we got back to town we went to a few temples in the old town and sipped some more chai until the evening ceremonies. Monkeys took the streets and we were escorted by a random monk being foreigners to sit front and center to the water ceremony they had hosted. The fire dances were psychedelic and mesmerizing. The crowd cheered and prayed. It was indeed a special day from sunrise to sunset. Amen and Namaste.
