Comments: Once I left Florence I drove to the wests coast to visit Pisa. There was a pizza shop before entering the grounds of the leaning tower. I grabbed a slice and headed into the landmark. It felt right to have a piece of pizza at the leaning tower of pisa. Made some photographs and wondered how this is sinking over time and leaning. A distortion of reality to see a building falling yet standing in place. My next stop was an artists dream. The public art garden based on all 78 of the tarot archetypes. Mosaics of tiles and mirrors to create massive surreal figures. I went from card to card following the looping paths around the art park. Once I saw all the characters and making double exposures I knew I had to make a portrait of the person of the day at this beautiful site. There were a handful of visitors and was waiting for the right moment. I circled the park to revisit a few tarot cards considered to be the location for the shoot. I visited the sun, then the hermit, back to the ace and finally ending at the Queen's quarters. I walked into a makeshift kitchen and bedroom and it was covered in tiles and mirrors reflecting the objects in a home. I saw this woman in a rainbow dress and her colors matched the shimmering tiles outside the palace. She was with her husband and did not speak any english. This was the moment I knew she was the one! The person to represent this colorful place on this sunny day. A gut feeling, as there was no one else in that space made me feel this way, this vision. You have to trust that feeling because that is harmony with the universe. It is reading the signs outside and signals within. So, I walked outside to wait for them to come out of the hierophants heart. It was just Deborah and I approached her nervously, she couldn't understand what I was saying in english so I started to speak Italian, since my father spoke it at home and I studied it in high-school. I said her outfit was so wonderful and it matches the rainbows in the park. She was dancing like a disco in the outdoor atrium. Her husband came along smiling and shook my hand then spoke to me in bits of broken English and I spoke to him in broken Italian. I made a Polaroid of them as a gift when the sun had set and I jetted off to the ancient city of Rome.
