Comments: Joel and the kids brought me along on their family trip to Sintra to wander through the exquisite Quinta da Regaleira. A unique artistic palace with caves, lakes, underground passageways, and mystical initiation well, resembling underground tower. Starting at the pits of the stone spiral staircase. Where you look up and see the leaves and sky. It feels like some sort of portal where mystic rituals took place. Down in the lantern lit caverns an eerie ghostly presence with a bit of a malevolent residue stuck on to you. As beautiful as it was built, it felt like something nefarious had happened here. A sacrificial chamber. Right out of an Aleister Crowley Occult advent in the dead of night. One can imagine a slew of people in red robes carrying torches and trinkets. Does energy stay in one place, if so, then how long? Why do places make you feel this way, is it something we can pick up on, smell in the air? Or, the feeling of goosebumps. Where our Subconscious knows before we even understand why? Intuition. Something to trust in that gut feeling. Because our body knows before our mind can process. But how? One can only ask questions and experience for themselves what their feelings mean. We channeled awe and innocence. Is that enough to cleanse a space, to replace what may have happened there. How can a place be spiritually renewed in a sense? I believe anything can be healed if the attention and intention is brought to it. Praying and calling in the beings of light and goodness. Not just in the physical space, but within ourselves. To remember to be good simply by asking to become it. It is a choice, a decision to start or stop something. For this adventure with Joel's family I asked them to hangout at the top of the stone well while I sat at the bottom in the star tiled center. Channeling their light. their blur, their presence through the camera to create a beautiful mystery. In the between states they stood at the top of the castello. Together as one. A father and his sons. Joel inspired me to be a dad like him. Showing them beauty and masonry that is still intact. It felt like we were in a giant chess match. The structure they were standing on were in the shape of a rook. The bishops took their place in the wishing well. The king and queen at their thrones in the palace. The pawns the tourists wandering about taking selfies and making memories. And then there is the knight, which is me, the knight of staffs. The responsibility and nobility to protect, scout, and create the path forward for the rest of the team.
