Comments: Drove east to Fiskars, a small artist town, to meet a great artist that I've looked up to for quite some time. His name is Kim Simonsson, a legendary ceramicist. He makes this beautiful life size sculptures called moss people. Kim invented a way by electrolysis to create the fiber like structures on his ceramic children. He mirrors and imagines the moss people as his own kin which represent his son and daughter. He shared that with me when I met him at his studio. Surrounded by various forms and styles of his mythical beings covered in moss, flowers, and nostalgia They say sometimes to never meet your heroes. Kim is a humble and kind man, a gem of an artist in Finland. Grateful to become his friend through his captivating art that makes you feel the innocence, playfulness, and wonder of a child again. All I had to do was reach out. Reaching out to those who inspire you and connect with intention is easy when you have the right intention and purpose. My intention was to make art with a great artist, to include him and his art in this film to represent his home country. By the time I left his studio I ended up collecting one of his smaller sized out of 3D print editions of a green moss boy in a fox hoodie to carry that energy with me. A totem of protection and guidance. Wandering around Europe in a rental for the rest of the road trip alone through all 27 EU countries. Ethan had flown home on this day and I continued to drive around like a mad man in Europe by myself, like we did in the USA for three months, on a creative quest to connect with all sorts of people along the path and respect their traditions across cultures for the next month and a half. It was a beautiful solitude. Like therapy. Time to spend with myself and process my conscience on 4-8 hour drives. To get to know who I am, what I am becoming, and how my dreams are manifesting into reality each mile.
