Comments: I met with the cowboy and his beloved wife and young boys with Christoffer and Kristina Egelund along with their twin daughters at their contemporary art gallery. It was an art space filled with large paintings, and in the back office smaller photos and prints from past exhibits. There was one portrait in particular that caught my attention of a woman inverted so all you see is light and dark. It spoke to me and ended up collecting that piece and a small rainbow collage on wood of the artist showing out front. From black and white to a full spectrum of colors. The best of both worlds and visions. We all went back to the front of the gallery to make a family portrait, which turned into two families coming together though friendship and art. Because art brings people together, and we make more art with art. An abundance of energy flowing in a big white cube with colorful walls that reflects your mind back to you. Is is what art does and makes you feel. A feeling from seeing. The owners had asked me to make a portrait or 2 with their twins as the cowboy mentioned to them about my project of 100 portraits of twins, called Twin Flames. We channeled the twin flames energy through the pictures, polaroids, and super 8 videos we created in their space using the natural dimmed sun light softly lighting up the space through the large windows of the gallery. I like to make art with people because it unites them in the frame, and in that moment creating a deeper bond. We work with what we have. What is in front of us. With the people who show up to create with. An improvisation that challenges the artist to make something from nothing, and to find meaning in the moment. How the light is landing on the subject and what is in the frame. It takes an instant of intuition to compose and create. To forge a vision from a blind awareness that comes from the source of experience and memory. Its simple. What is happening, how is it unfolding, life itself and observing the unfolding of the movements and actions is what makes the subject matter. Seeing people as they are and honoring them in that space they take up in the frame. The beauty is in the spontaneity and making sense of it simultaneously. The challenge is where the growth occurs. And at the core if it all, of the art making process, is to keep bringing people together.
