There is something uniquely beautiful about a scene covered in a fresh blanket of snow. The landscape, once appearing rugged and worn by the elements, becomes pristine and untouched overnight. The temperatures may be frigid, but the rising sun brings much anticipated warmth. The rock formations seen in this photograph are composed of the eroded peaks from an Ancestral Rocky Mountain Range. These rocks once laid flat under the surface, until uplifted by the younger Rocky Mountains we know today.
