Our emotions sometimes govern our thoughts and actions, maybe even most times. It takes a different level of will to tame them.
One of the hardest to tame is the feeling of revenge. We get into situations that test our ability to absorb the pain of being wronged. Most times we are misled into believing that revenge will bring satisfaction. But we quickly find out otherwise when faced with it.
All the anger and rage fade, and all you’re left with is the guilt and regret of your actions.
In those moments that test us, we must hold on to sanity and keep our emotions from running so wild that our judgement is clouded.
Betrayal will always come; it’s not within our power to change that, but it always will be within our power to control how we react to it, such that the disease of vengeance never eats so far into the fabric of our morality that we lose sight of who we are amidst the pain.
