Through painting and digital works, Manuel Fois’ work investigates the concept of language transmigration and the relationship between virtual and physical images. In the present, where daily events are strongly influenced by technology, his research develops from long audio recordings that are made using commonly used devices such as microphones, smartphones, and voice assistants. From these sessions, shorter audio tracks are selected, which, introduced in a conversion software, are translated into graphic spectra, which are the basis of his two-dimensional work. The resulting images, in fact, as the last step, are reproduced manually on mirrored surfaces and black glass plates with a silk-screen process. Reflecting on the idea of transposition from one language to another, each work appears as a visual translation that maintains a direct correspondence with the original audio file.
