the appeal of the past

After the passing (and subsequent passing of the torch) of Thomas Cole, Kensett and others diversified their styles a bit within the school. Here, we see Kensett's eye in full view, pulling life into a seemingly simple landscape through his command of light. It's contemplative, but equally as powerful as Cole's contrast-dominant style.
