Before digital, film was processed and proofed for viewing, editing and then selection. In this proof sheet are the X-ed out rejects, a red slash in the upper left corner for the first edit, followed by a red X for the Edit 2, and then the final selected image for printing is designated with a number and/or circled. Being 35mm film each individual image is looked at with a 4.5x magnifying loupe. The print sheet shows the development of the shooting and how the final selection evolved.
