This is the first of a series of New Renaissance Portraits, and unveils another layer of the Gameboy character from the DOMVS series, at a different stage in his journey. The tear tattoo on his face symbolises a darker, more determined side, contrasting the wing tattoo from the first portrait, which represented his aspirations for freedom and change. Holding a tablet displaying a Digital Vanitas, the portrait reflects on life's brevity and our societal inherent digital narcissism. The animated, "pixelated and glitchy" background, re-interpretation of the golden backgrounds of classical religious icons and paintings, represents the spiritual, the infinite, the power of faith, inviting to a deeper connection with the viewer.
