It was a rainy evening as a pair of friends walk through the backstreets of Seoul illuminated only by a flickering light. The bars were closing, the people were scattering, and suddenly the rain came. It was an unusual rain with raindrops heavier than the usual spring drizzles.
They had just left the craft brewery and were making their way towards the hostel they were staying at this evening. Suddenly a strong wind, tearing down the umbrella held by Mei. Luckily she has her friend Sara by her side to share her umbrella, the rain pressing down on them as they climbed up the hill.
The shady backstreets overcrowded by wires make Seoul look like a cyberpunk dystopian world, but behind the metal mess in the streets, there are interiors bustling with people and light. Even at 3 am, people are still going out for their third or fourth round of drinks and food. They call it "ii-cha, sam-cha, sa-cha" - second round, third round, fourth round. It is what makes Seoul truly a night city.
