This abstract portrait is inspired by the manzanitas in Sierra Nevada. Hiking through Northern California manzanita trees can be seen everywhere. These local trees are resilient, provide nourishment, healing, and beauty. I’m in awe of their history and beautiful twisting body, as well as the juxtaposition of their petite pastel green leaves, deep wine purple tree bark, and intense red bark flakes.
