Spider Magnolia

The rare and somewhat mythical Spider Magnolia plant is known to only exist in one secret location, on private land in the New Guinea rainforest.

Many poachers and cultivators have attempted expeditions in and around the land - those that trespassed never returned. Given its rarity and lack of documentation on the species, illustrations are based on story-telling and second-hand information.

In ‘The Spider Magnolia’, a novella, a common woman tresspasses onto private land in a bid to obtain the magnolia for her female lover. She was never seen again. The novella published a handwritten note that was found on the outskirts of the private land, describing the ‘Spider Magnolia’:

Pink bud, full pearl, soft blushing cheeks, the color your fleur Hair, on end, caress my hand Scent alluring, behind your ear
