Two Recollections of a Chair

Captured in-camera, these past moments are arrested in time, yet are in flux in the present under two moving light sources, each tracing the sun's path from different times and places.

As an immigrant father exploring identity and history in a new country I have become fascinated by the mechanics of dealing with the past in changeable ways. Building new photographic technology has offered me a way to play with time in a plastic-like state.

The materials in these images are sourced from the construction of a house, a stage for shifting history and memory, where the past is shaped into new stories, histories and identity.
