The Roman Legionaire was a citizen-soldier in the ancient Roman army who fought alongside his comrades to protect Rome from its enemies.

The first known use of the term “legion” dates back to 450 BC when it referred to a unit of cavalry. Over time, this evolved into the large formations of heavily armed infantrymen we know today as the Roman Legions.

Each man wore heavy armour and carried a long sword or spear while carrying a shield with them at all times. As citizens of Rome, their loyalty lay with the state and they would often put themselves in harm’s way to defend their city and fellow Romans. In return, they were provided with food, clothing and shelter by the government. This made them highly respected amongst other troops due to their dedication and commitment to Rome.

Photograpghy unearthed from the depths of the historical record.

With the development of AI-assisted photography, we are now able to recreate historical events and characters using AI tools as our “time machine.” This collection has been created to interpret history through the lens of my imagination.

As Napoleon once said, “History is a set of lies, agreed upon.” Welcome to the past.
