I chose 'Madonna with the Long Neck' as my inspiration and a guideline for the work due to its controversy. It was said that Parmigianino made proportions and manipulated elements with un-ordinary composition to proof that to create something beautiful you don't have to follow tradition and classical compositing. That story reflects perfectly the new era in art where we are entering into with AI. We don't have to follow rules and methods from the past; we can embrace new innovation and the tools given to us to create something unprecedented and beautiful.

For this piece I used ArtBreeder, Midjourney and DALL-E. Around 20 generated bits and parts were used to composite the base for the piece and combined with digital painting. To honour Parmigianino’s painting, I followed his compositing very closely, yet adding my own twist. I left out and changed some elements, also reversing some of the symbolism in the piece.

For me, creating art is how I express myself. I want to bring part of myself into each piece I make; that's why I also use a lot of time with digital painting. AI works as my paint and muse, it lets me dive in to my imagination, releasing the unlimited playfield of creativity; it reveals us ideas that we wouldn't ever thought on out own. Ai is a beautiful tool, an extension for our creativity.
