ARIADNE'S THREAD BOOK 1 Canto 2 'Farewell and a Black Sail'
I now know his name. Theseus. I heard it echoing quietly down the endless corridors of the Labyrinth, whispered excitedly in conversations amongst the still fearful guards whilst they furtively ventured into the beginnings of my prison, thinking me dead.
They talked of escape with his people and the princess Ariadne, so I watch his departure from my favourite viewpoint near the roof of this maze. Although much too high to afford a means of escape, it had for many years comforted me with a view of the wider world; blue skies and the vast sea.
Sitting here alongside my only companions, I wish for him a safe journey. With the unintended gift of this thread, he has offered me the chance of escape from my Hell.
It worries me, however. The black sail upon his ship.
