Le Bourget Air Show, Paris, France, 1967

Joel Meyerowitz embarked on an extensive journey across Europe between 1966 and 1967, his travels taking him to numerous countries including France, Greece, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria, Morocco, England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland.

In May 1967, while in Paris, Meyerowitz captured a striking image. This photograph showcased a replica of the Vostok spaceship, complete with its rocket launcher and service platform, displayed at the International Air Show held at Le Bourget Airfield in Paris.

Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut, etched his name in history by becoming the first human to venture into outer space. On April 12, 1961, aboard the Vostok 1 capsule, Gagarin successfully completed one full orbit around Earth.
