Deep in the Czech countryside, there is a small forgotten church. From the outside everything seems normal, but when you get inside you get goose bumps. Who are these people who look like ghosts and what are they doing here? No one says a word, no one moves and you only notice the leaves and branches of the trees beating against the windows driven by the wind.
I slowly move into the interior of the church and the people. Slowly I realize that these people are made of papier-mâché. My goose bumps disappear and I am fascinated by these realistic art figures. I later found out that this installation by the Czech artist Jakub Hadrava has a creepy background.
When the roof collapsed during a funeral in 1968, the residents saw it as a bad omen and masses were only held outside the church. Since then, the church has fallen into disrepair.
