As photographers, everything we create is made possible by light. When shooting film, I love to look for shadows created by sunlight colliding with other objects. The shadows create an overlaid pattern on a subject, creating a much more interesting composition.
This image is also a metaphor for me, in a sense. While I love to find the light as a photographer, I also look for the light in life. We all have our ups and downs, but it's important to try and find the light in dark times.
