ECLIPSE

There are certain moments when everything aligns. So many cycles, as we spin through this life, both personal and cosmic- and when things fall perfectly into place, a pause for reflection is possible. One of these moments that I felt such a feeling so profoundly is when I witnessed this primal event, standing in the path of totality of a solar eclipse. It was an instant that changed my life forever.

I made this image during the total solar eclipse of 2017, in Nashville, TN. It was a time of deep and lasting change in my life, and something about standing in the muted glow of the sun cast in shadow rendered me calm and quiet. I felt a sense of death and rebirth, of an emergence from the past and into the future. To this day, it is the most present I've felt in a single instant.

I hope this photograph can evoke that same sensation in those who see it.
