<p>The growth brings evidence of its past, with each moment conveying its one present state within the context of where it has come from. The trajectory feeding each of these moments creates a destination for what comes next, mixing experience and myriad imperceptible influences to determine its next step. With “Filum,” Ella Hoeppner looks at how even the simplest of origins can yield the growth of immense organic complexities, and reveals how those creations can maintain an intrinsic cohesion in the evidence of their own experience. </p> <p>This generative series uses a “force-directed graph layout” technique, where a collection of particles are all networked together by natural counterbalancing forces of push and pull. These pieces show the paths that the particles take as they move from their geometric starting positions to a configuration that’s more true to the interconnected forces they all contain.</p>
