My practice repositions Pepe within a visual language shaped by my Latin American heritage, colonial aesthetics, and the allegorical influence of Hieronymus Bosch. By inserting a digital icon into historically grounded painterly spaces, I create a dialogue between contemporary symbolism and inherited visual power structures.
Color functions as a vehicle of memory and hybridity, drawing from Latin American and colonial palettes to evoke emotional and cultural tension. Within Bosch-inspired surreal environments, Pepe becomes an ambiguous figure through which themes of identity, representation, and cultural transformation are critically examined.
