If a light imprimatura is used over a dark surface, reflecting light will cause a luminous effect. If a dark imprimatura is used over a light surface, colors will be deep, rich, and complex. Imprimatura or Grisaille are often the first step in the intricate, time consuming, and many-layered paintings made with Velatura, Sfumato, and/or glazing techniques.
This piece was created by hand-sketching in digital charcoal, layering and smoothing with Artificial Intelligence (Neural Filters), mixing in Public Domain master painting (still life) for texture, and digitally hand-painting/manipulating for cohesion. Its process and aesthetic are intentionally similar to the artist's earliest work, before they discovered NFTs, and before they began to share their inner world with anyone.
