“1st Place” is part of Billy Dinh’s genesis collection “The Morning Rush” —
On a typical morning in Taipei, Taiwan, a continuous waterfall consisting of thousands of scooters can be seen making their way across the Taipei Bridge. This photograph captures a woman that only has the stop light standing in the way of her and the day to come. She appears to have a confident and determined look on her face as if she’s ready to start a big race. A race she’s sure she’ll come in 1st place this time.
— “The Morning Rush” Genesis Collection explores the start of one’s day. Behind the stressful commute of thousands pushing and pulling to get to their destination on time are the emotions and importance of one’s journey. A metaphor for where we come from and where we’re going. The photographs in this series shares a glimpse of those stories through the fast pace hustle and bustle yet calming stillness I’ve managed to capture through my 8 years of travels. Each moment from the collection represents one of the following feelings of determination, wonder, and uncertainty from the perspective of different individuals from different parts of the world.
