“I Wonder” is part of Billy Dinh’s genesis collection “The Morning Rush” — When everything seems to be moving a million miles a minute, none of that matters when we’re lost in our thoughts. It’s in these brief moments that we make time to think, expand our creativity, forget about our responsibilities, and begin to wonder. There’s no denying that NYC is one of the most hectic cities in the world and there’s no better time to experience the intensity of that than being in one of the hundreds of subway stations during the morning rush hour commute. This photograph embodies both the feeling of that intensity as well as escaping it for just a few seconds. This image was taken with a slow shutter to capture the motion and the stillness of the moment as the train operator seems to be in his own moment of wonder. — “The Morning Rush” Genesis Collection explores the start of one’s day. Behind the stressful commute of thousands pushing and pulling to get to their destination on time are the emotions and importance of one’s journey. A metaphor for where we come from and where we’re going. The photographs in this series shares a glimpse of those stories through the fast pace hustle and bustle yet calming stillness I’ve managed to capture through my 8 years of travels. Each moment from the collection represents one of the following feelings of determination, wonder, and uncertainty from the perspective of different individuals from different parts of the world.
