The Passages collection is the next phase of Rituals-Venice, the Lumen Prize NFT Award-winning project. Passages is a site-specific audiovisual installation created by Aaron Penne and Boreta in collaboration with Bright Moments and Counterpoint. The collection will be unveiled on March 16th in Venice, California at the Bright Moments gallery.
The generative artwork is rendered in real time, creating a performance of a system, synthesizing all sounds and patterns live. The audiovisual experience transports the viewer from the chaos of the outside world into a hypnotic oasis generated by the artists' code. Passages is a collection of 100 infinitely generative audiovisual NFTs on Ethereum; the artwork code is stored 100% on-chain leveraging Art Blocks Engine.
The music in Passages is an exercise in restraint and generative composition. A sonic world emerges as the harmonic layers helix around each other, creating natural ebbs and flows. The music is designed to be felt as much as heard.
The visual artwork engages the viewer's peripheral vision, naturally facilitating the single-pointed focus experienced during meditation. The infinitely shifting geometric forms echo the Op art and Psychedelic art movements of the mid-century.
Boreta composed the generative music for Passages using a bespoke and first-of-its-kind code-only music tool built by Counterpoint.
Bright Moments is responsible for celebrated minting experiences such as Incomplete Control, 100 Print, and Rituals - Venice. The gallery has created the bridge between the digital and physical worlds, and Passages represents the next focused step in what is possible.
